I advocate taking baby steps in learning. Honestly, doing a single implant at a site with a lot of bone is actually easier than doing a class 2 filling. So, if you know the fundamentals, and pick a good case, there is no reason why a dental graduate should not be able to take on a simple 1-implant case. It should be done with an abundance of caution, but it IS totally doable.
Step 1: Take an online course. Implant Surgery 101 by us, is seriously the best way.
Step 2: Do a hands-on course. Plenty of those out there. Ours is called the dojo experience, that one is great.
Step 3: Join a community that you can ask questions and share any complications that arise. Our discord group is amazing for that.
Step 4: Place an implant in your office. Pick a mandibular molar or a maxillary premolar. Do a healed site, NO IMMEDIATES YET!
Aside from that, get your hands on reading material, start to build up a little library of resources!
